What Is a Reading Buddy Fundraiser?

A Reading Buddy Fundraiser is a school event where students hand-stuff their own teddy bears, mascots or plush animals and adopt them as reading companions.

Students can name their new buddies, complete birth certificates and make promises to read with them regularly.

Unlike traditional product fundraisers, students participate in an activity and take home something that can continue supporting their interest in reading.

How the Fundraiser Works

Choose Your Reading Buddies

Select a school mascot, teddy bear or assortment of plush animals. Schools using our online fundraising program can choose up to four animal options for families.

Select Your Fundraising Dates

Choose when your order period will begin and end. Plan for approximately 10–14 business days of processing after your online fundraising page closes.

Set Your Selling Price

Your school determines what families will pay for each Reading Buddy Kit. This allows your PTO, PTA or school to set a fundraising goal that works for its community.

Share Your Fundraising Page

Promote your unique link and QR code through newsletters, flyers, social media, parent emails and classroom messages.

Families order and pay directly through the Plushie Pal Factory website. Your school does not need to collect individual online payments or create an account with a third-party payment service.

Host Your Reading Buddy Event

Once the kits arrive, students stuff their animals, add their wishing inserts, complete their birth certificates and read with their new friends.
